How to Play Craps
Craps is played with 1 or more players and it is played with 2 dice. Players will all have a turn to throw the dice, this means that the person throwing the dice is called the '
shooter'. The first roll in a new round is called the
Come Out Roll. If the total of the dice thrown equals 7, 11, 2, 3 or 12 the round will end and the shooter then starts a new round. A 2, 3 or 12 rolled is called '
craps'. 7 or 11 is called '
natural'. Any other number is called a '
point' ( 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10).
If a point is thrown, this requires the dice to be re-rolled by the shooter until a 7 or the same point is rolled again. If the same point is rolled again the round is over and a new round begins. If the shooter rolls a 7, the round is complete and the next player becomes the shooter.
If for example you are betting on a
'pass line' and the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 you will automatically win. If a 2, 3 or 12 which is called '
craps' is thrown you will lose. With a pass line bet a point (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) must be thrown before a 7 in order to win.
Objective
It's important to understand that Craps is a game of rounds. The Come Out Roll being the first roll of the round may determine the outcome of the round. If a 2, 3 ,7, 11, 12 is rolled on a come out roll the round ends immediately. If any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) is rolled it's called a point. If the point is rolled then the dice will continually be rolled until that same point is rolled again or a 7 is rolled.
Rules
In order to learn how to play Craps you need to learn the terms used in the game as well as the basic rules. The player, known as the 'shooter' throws the dice. All players need to place their bets before the 'shooter' throws the dice. The Come Out Roll is when the game begins as it is the first roll in a new game of craps made by the shooter. This roll will determine if the shooter loses, wins or continues the game.
